at Donington Park September 15th & 16th 2009 Rounds nine and ten of this new for 2009 International series that features single seater cars designed by Williams Grand Prix and powered by 1.8 turbo charged Audi engines - expect the action to be fierce as the championship moves towards a climax, amid a busy support race programme. | for more details of the championship click here |
| REVERSE AUCTION £1 per entry & you can enter as many tries as you like |
How it works:The competition is in the form of a 'Reverse Auction', each entrant pays £1 per bid. The winner is the person who has made the lowest unique unmatched bid (in whole pence). For example; if you bid 1p and anyone else also bids 1p then ALL the 1p bids lose! The skill and judgment comes in picking an amount that no one else thinks of bidding and is also the lowest of all the unique bids. The winner only pays the £1 fee per entry, there is nothing else to pay. Advance entries will be collected from the supporting venues on Saturday, 1st August |
Even if you can't make it to Osgathorpe on August 2nd you can still take part to have a chance to win the tickets Advance Entries will be available until Saturday 1st August from: Storey ArmsMain Street Osgathorpe LE12 9TA or by phone 01530 222009 |
How to Enter:Enter on the day or in advance at any of the venues (which will be listed on the right as the information becomes available) Complete a bid slip and put it with your £1 per bid entry money in a sealed envelope in the box provided. All entries must be accompanied by the entry fee IN CASH - £1 per bid Multiple entries may be included in an envelope PROVIDED there is a separate slip for each entry, with the full contact details of the entrant on EACH slip and the appropriate payment in cash e.g. 5 bids = £5. Entries can be made in any type of envelope if there are no envelopes available and if there are no slips left please include a piece of paper with the following information:

can play! |
Entry £1 per 'bid' The winner will be announced during Osgathorpe's Fun Day quiz at the Storey Arms, 2nd August 2009 Thanks to the generous support of Donington Park Leisure Ltd & Charnwood Publishing (Coalville) ALL the money raised by this Reverse Auction will go to Rainbows Children's Hospice, Loughborough |
'Storey Arms Fundraising Events' or S.A.F.E. |
The Storey Arms public house, at the centre of village life in Osgathorpe, has a long & justifiably proud tradition of tirelessly raising funds for Rainbows Children's Hospice, Loughborough. The Storey Arms history with Rainbows is born out of a very personal & heartfelt connection with the hospice. Over many years Philip, Susan & the staff have run dozens of events collecting in many thousands of pounds to help this well loved local charity. From their September beer festival, harvest auction, Burn's Night supper & a myriad of events during the year they put so much love & effort into helping Rainbows whenever & however they can. In 2007 it was decided to put together a Fun Day & add a daft dog show in for good measure - that's the categories that are daft not the dogs!! With so many lovely canine residents in the village why shouldn't they be included in the fun? It soon became clear this format had the potential to become very popular not only within Osgathorpe but for our neighbours in the villages & towns over a wide circle from Ashby de la Zouch, Loughborough, Coalville, Diseworth etc. By 2008, our second year, we were welcoming families & canines from across Leicestershire, Birmingham, Nottinghamshire..... people obviously love a good day out! With just a touch(!) of torrential rain to contend with on August 31st 2008 £1331.50p was raised for Rainbows. It's fingers crossed for beautiful weather on Sunday, August 2nd this year & a record amount raised for the hospice. We hope this will be something we can build on year by year & run a similar event each summer. As a direct result of the success of the 2007 event it was decided it would be a good idea to form a group dedicated to contributing to the Storey Arms' fantastic fund raising for Rainbows whilst at the same time taking some of the logistics & planning burden from the pub itself. So 'Storey Arms Fundraising Events' (or S.A.F.E. because it's easier!) was formed. The aim is to create a great fun event which both visitors, volunteers, exhibitors & businesses will want to be part of - all with the shared goal of raising as much money as possible for Rainbows at the same time. Absolutely no contribution is wasted. Whether it be money, goods, services or goodwill all donations are treated with the utmost respect & looked at individually to see the very best possible way to utilise them to best advantage the fund raising potential for Rainbows. We pride ourselves in coming up with some novel games & competitions to capture people's imagination. For instance in 2008 the game to win the pair of Motocross of Nations tickets, kindly donated by Donington Park, was taken out to various local motocross club meetings which ensured fans of the sport got a chance to participate. The game of course ran throughout the Fun Day so everyone who came along on the 31st had an equal chance of winning too. Just one example of really maximising the benefit to Rainbows of a company's generous donation to our efforts. We do not spend anything but the bare essentials on administration, advertising or any other area of putting on this sort of event. Phone calls & emails are free so that's what is used rather than post if at all possible. There is no 'office' or 'staff' it is all voluntary. Local businesses throughout the area are wonderfully supportive in displaying posters & flyers advertising the event. The local press & radio stations are fantastically helpful in making sure they mention the event both on air & in their 'what's on' listings. There is so much goodwill & respect for Rainbows as a charity both within the immediate area & throughout the East Midlands, that the response for requests for help with S.A.F.E.'s efforts on their behalf is truly heartwarming.

30th July 2009 As most of the lovely men from K.V.A.C. are working farmers the adverse weather means they are behind on harvesting etc. On the basis we MUST be due some decent sunshine(!!) it may be the numbers attending the Fun Day might be reduced as they'll need to literally make hay while the sun shines! However being great supporters of Osgathorpe's events for Rainbows they are pulling out all the stops for a good turn out. If you are hoping to see a particular vehicle it might be best to get in contact to check which ones will be attending
